The device measures vital signs and also captures behavior data to provide context. We provide the most commonly used behavior metrics, including energy expenditure, steps, and activity classification.
It would be useful, though, to have a suite of behavior metrics that provide actionable and validated insights than go beyond the widely used metrics mentioned above. To do that we have leveraged FirstBeat technology to obtain behavior metrics based on both user demographics and attributes (age, gender, min heart rate, max heart rate, etc.), as well inputs calculated on-board by the device, such as the number of steps, Inter-pulse-intervals, heart rate, and heart rate quality.
Behaviour suite: Training (Exercise) + Activity (Move) + Relax + Sleep = Health
We measure 4 key lifestyle behaviors: sleeping, relaxing, activity (moving) and training (exercising), which together explain a significant part (up to 40-50%) of overall health status. We measure them in a personalized fashion, to enable comparisons across time.
Training (Exercise) indicator
An indicator of the effect of daily activities on aerobic fitness, elevating Heart Rate above a threshold for a long enough period to drive a fitness promoting impact.
Activity (Move) indicator
Shows moment to moment balance between bodily stress and recovery.
Relax indicator
An indicator of the Autonomic Nervous System engaging the parasympathetic or *rest and digest* system, an important feedback loop to confirm those intended/perceived relaxation activities actually deliver.
Sleep indicator
An indicator of both sleep duration and restorative quality.
Health indicator
An aggregation of the underlying behavioral attribute which contributes to a significant proportion (40-50%) of the overall health status: Move, Exercise, Relax, and Sleep. These attributes are based on our analytics engine building a deep understanding of the body.
